Headquartered in California, Sunderstorm is a leading cannabis manufacturer known for its range of cannabis-infused products, particularly in the wellness and recreational markets. The company aims to offer high-quality, science-driven cannabis products and is seen as a leader in the cannabis edibles market.
While they do operate in other states and countries, they rely on third-party distributors in these regions. In their home state of California, though, Sunderstorm runs its own mixed-fleet distribution operations out of two separate distribution centers.
The company was previously using a custom-built routing solution that, while functional, left significant room for improvement. Although the routing itself was automated, the assignment of drivers and vehicles was done manually. The impending shutdown of this platform by its provider prompted Sunderstorm to seek a new solution that could enhance operational efficiency and seamlessly integrate into Samsara telematics, which they were using to keep track of fleet maintenance requirements.
Sunderstorm was looking for an advanced routing solution that could pull order information from their ERP system (including details like appointment times and delivery windows, which Samsara cannot process), plan and optimize routes accordingly and then feed the optimized routes and schedules into the Samsara app, all in a fully automated process. This is exactly what NextBillion.ai Fleet Hub is designed to do.
Intrigued by the opportunity that Fleet Hub presented, Sunderstorm was eager to see a demonstration of its capabilities and how it would integrate into their workflow.
